PRP is a medical application. It should only be performed by doctors. After examining the patient, the doctor takes a small amount of blood into small tubes containing a special gel and centrifuges it. At the end of this process, the blood in the tubes is separated into its constituent parts, i.e. the red cell part of the blood, which contains about 200,000 platelets per millilitre, is separated, resulting in a gel with a platelet density of up to 1.5 million platelets per millilitre. This is called PRP. Platelets have a function in blood clotting, but they also secrete growth factors that promote the healing of tissue damage.
